Winners of The Best Leadership Development Practices of Asia Seminar and Awards.


On September 24, 2015, the L&OD Roundtable, one of Asia’s largest forums for practicing Human Resource/L&OD professionals, organised the Best Leadership Development Practices of Asia Seminar and Awards 2015, a day-long edutainment event which saw a gathering of over 300 Human Resource Professionals and CEOs from across the Indian Corporate milieu.

An outcome of the pioneering Best Leadership Development Practices of Asia Study 2014-15, which invited best practices in four broad categories – Developing Entry Level Leaders, Developing New Leaders, Developing Future Leaders and Developing Top Leadership. The study witnessed an overwhelming response from a large number of organisations from across South Asia at the submission stage.

The entries were independently evaluated by an esteemed Jury comprising of thought Leaders, management consultants and academicians – Dr Indira Parikh (ex Dean – IIM Ahmedabad), P Thiruvengadam (ex Director – Deloitte), Stephen Bennett (CEO – Inspirational Development Group) and Rajeshwar Upadhyaya (Director – Par Excellence).

The top four entries in each category were invited to share their best practices through moderated panel discussions. The panel discussions were lead by luminaries from the HR and consulting fraternity, including Yogi Sriram (Larsen & Toubro), Nischae Suri (KPMG), Prithvi Shergill (HCL Technologies) and Sandeep Chaudhary (Aon Hewitt).

The keynote addresses were delivered by Atul Tewari (COO-Quikr) on ‘Leadership is about viewing the world through a different lens!” and Prerak Mehta (TEDx Speaker) on ‘Leadership is about using your expertise to create a better world’. This was followed by an interesting panel discussion on ‘Leadership is not a Designation- Insights for Building Leadership of the Future” that saw three eminent CHROs from the industry in conversation with three under 40 CEOs from India Inc. The three HR leaders included Adil Malia (President HR – Essar), Rajeev Dubey (Group President – HR & Corporate Services, CEO – AfterMarket Sector and Member of Group Executive Board, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd) and Prabir Jha (Global Chief People Officer Designate, Cipla). Conversing with them were the under 40 CEOs Hitesh Gossain (CEO – Onspon), Gaurav Kushwaha (CEO – Bluestone) and Mohit Gundecha (CEO – Jombay). The panelists shared their insights on managing talent in the information era and breaking away from the shackles of industrial era mindsets. The event also witnessed live performances by the award-winning Jazz Musician Merlin D’souza and her Troupe and the premiere of a play “He Said She Said – The Dilemmas of Diversity and Insights for Inclusion”.

The seminar concluded with the presentation of the Learning Luminary Awards and to the winners of the Best Leadership Development Practices of Asia Study.

The Learning Luminary awards were conferred to Dr Mrityunjay Athreya (Padma Bhushan), Dr Ric Roi (Russel Reynolds Associates), Gyan Nagpal (Author of Talent Economics), Andrew Jefferson (author of the Six Disciplines of Breakthrough Learning), Ed Cohen (ex CHRO-Mahindra Satyam and author of Leadership Without Borders: Successful Strategies from World Class Leaders) and Dr Boris Groysberg (Harvard Business School).

The Winners in the four categories were as follows:

Best New Leaders’ Program: Winners Firstsource Solutions, runners up: Vedanta Resources Plc, second runners up: Metro Global Business Services Pvt Ltd, third runners up: Yum Restaurants India Pvt Ltd.

Best Future Leaders’ Program of Asia: Winners – Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, runners up: Vedanta Resources Plc, second runners up: Wipro Technologies, third runners up: Viom Networks Ltd.

Best Top Leaders’ Program of Asia – Winners: Vedanta Resources Plc, runners up: Capgemini India Pvt Ltd, second runners up: Crompton Greaves Ltd, third runners up: Yum Restaurants India Pvt Ltd.
